WTF: We’re Turning Forty in 2020
In 2020, the ICA celebrates its 40th anniversary – 40 years of presenting contemporary art exhibitions in downtown San Jose. (Oh yeah, for FREE.)
Celebrate with us by joining us weekly for virtual gatherings including Artist talks, workshops, studio visits, and more!
While 40 may seem young to many of us, it’s a major milestone in the lifespan of a mid-sized, non-profit arts organization. Four decades ago, a small band of artists decided that San Jose needed a professionally curated contemporary art space where local, national and international artists could be presented in group and solo exhibitions. And, in October 1980, they incorporated as the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art.
We will look at the ICA’s past, present, and future through weekly virtual events that will take place on the ICA’s Instagram Live and Zoom. This program will include artist talks, workshops, and conversations.
Participating artists include: LigoranoReese, Robert Milnes, Karen Finley, Amy Ellingsen, Lewis deSoto, Val Britton, Kathy Aoki, Carmina Eliason, Taro Hattori, Terri Friedman, Maria Paz, Muzae Sesay, Shawn HibmaCronin and more.
