ICA Live! Art(work) Artists Printing Demonstration
Friday, June 1, 2018: 7:30 – 9:30PM
June’s ICA Live! will feature a printmaking demonstration led by artist Mike Oechsli whose work is currently included in the exhibition Art(work).
Join us for a live demonstration of printmaking with the ICA’s Installation manager and artist Mike Oechsli. Oechsli will show and tell how he creates his prints in what he calls, his “Print Residency” in the Off Center Gallery, formerly know as the ICA Print Center. Learn about Monotype printmaking, a printmaking process that creates one-of-a-kind-images by etching an image onto a copper plate and then running the paper and plate through a press.
Oechsli is a graduate of San Jose State University, where he received a BFA in Pictorial Arts. There, he studied a multitude of different printmaking techniques including screen printing, lithography, bookmaking, and etching. Currently, he is based in San Jose. His work has been shown throughout the Bay Area in exhibitions and private collections.
