David Pace Gallery Dedication & First Look of David Pace: Speaking Through Images
A note from ICA Board President, Gordon Yamate
Inasmuch as we had hoped for a more formal gathering to celebrate the opening of the David Pace Gallery, the COVID Delta variant has unfortunately upset our plans. We will still be celebrating the opening on Friday, August 6, 2021 with extended hours and socially-distanced capacity limits from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, but with no program. Our hope is that we will be able welcome you in the way that you are most used to at a later date, perhaps in connection with the closing of the memorial exhibition of David’s work.
When you visit the David Pace Gallery, I think you will be impressed with the dramatic changes that we have made to what previously was known as the Off-Center Gallery (and originally a printmaking studio). The newly-reconfigured and expanded space honors and celebrates David’s life as an artist and a trusted colleague on the ICA’s Board of Directors, and the gracious generosity of David and his wife, Diane Jonte-Pace, as long-time supporters of the ICA. David epitomized for me the values, character and potential of the ICA, and we miss him greatly.
I would be amiss if I did not also recognize the generous financial and in-kind contributions of Nicki and Pete Moffat in the gallery make-over. Pete’s assistance in designing and managing the construction of the new gallery with his firm’s crew has been an amazing gift to the ICA, elevating the ICA’s physical space offerings and the overall aesthetic of the ICA. I know that so much of Pete and Nicki’s efforts with the new gallery space were driven by their shared love and friendship of David and Diane.
So, fingers crossed, we hope to see you soon with a more formal dedication of the David Pace Gallery when we can safely do so.
This event is FREE and open to the public, RSVP using the link below.
David Pace: Speaking Through Images is generously supported by our David Pace Legacy Fund donors. A special thanks to Pete and Nicki Moffat for their generous support in the design and build out of the space.
