Haven’t seen the summer exhibitions at the ICA? It’s not too late! Join us on September 16th for a day of art making and conversation with artists featured in the exhibitions.
From 2-3 pm, On Your Left artist Taro Hattori invites you to participate in Leitmotif, an ongoing participatory piece originally created during his residency at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. By turning the pedal of an upside-down bicycle wheel, participants will be invited to sing a song in memory of someone. By spinning the wheels in place, Hattori’s piece contemplates the cyclical nature of memory. Hattori will call on participants of all talent levels to contribute to this ongoing project – whether you only sing in the car or shower, or your sing on Broadway – he wants you to sing and spin!
Following Singing/Spinning, join us for a artists’ talk from 3-4 pm with NextNewGames curator Patricia Carino Valdez and artists featured in NextNewGames, including Sam Vernon, Asma Kazmi, and Lark VCR.
Afterwards, join On Your Left artists Sergio De La Torre and Chris Treggiari from 4-5 pm as they lead a community printmaking demonstration with their Sanctuary City Mobile Print Shop cart.
