Quilt-making workshop with Mik and May Gaspay
Thursday, December 12 | 5 p.m.
Join ICA San Jose for an intimate workshop facilitated by Mik and May Gaspay, artists from our current exhibition, Allegedly the Worst is Behind Us. Mik and May will educate guests on quilt-making, piecing, and basic sewing techniques, which are applicable to both textile mediums and essential life skills. Space and supplies are limited. Please register once the link is available.
About Mik and May Gaspay are a Filipino-American mother and son artist team who collaborate on sculptural quilts. Working together, they combine their individual strengths and perspectives to create pieces that are at once familiar and fresh. May brings a deep knowledge of traditional quilting techniques, while Mik brings a conceptual and experimental approach to the medium.
Through their collaboration, they hope to create pieces that not only celebrate their familial history and Filipino culture, but also speak to the broader human experiences of family, heritage, and connection.
